IMPORTANT UPDATE – Covid-19 case in Y6

The positive covid-19 case reported on Monday in our Y6 class came from a Lateral Flow Device (LFD). LFD tests are typically taken at home on a regular basis regardless of any symptoms or lack of symptoms. Standard advice from Public Health England asks people reporting a positive LFD test to take a back-up, confirmatory PCR test (PCR tests are typically taken at the drive through testing centres).

We can confirm today that the person who reported the positive case on Monday has since taken a confirmatory PCR test which is NEGATIVE. The person who reported the positive case was not showing symptoms on Monday and continues to be symptom free. Public Health England have confirmed that our Y6 children can end their self-isolation immediately IF THEY ARE SYMPTOM FREE and can return to school tomorrow.
