  • Autumn Term 1 Information Post

    Published 01/08/24, by Claire Jones

    Hello,

We are looking forward to welcoming your children into Year 1. We enjoyed spending time with them in July and are excited to work with both you and them.

Please find below some important curriculum information for the first half-term. This includes:

*Knowledge organiser for science (Wonderful Me)

*Curriculum map (outlining all of our learning for the first half term)

    *Spelling words overview

*Topic homework (to be completed at some point this half term)

*Maths KIRFs - Key facts we will be focusing on in maths this term and good things to reinforce at home.

From Year 1, children are given passwords for doodle maths assignments and for spelling shed. We will give those to you in the first week. You will find daily / weekly activities on there to help support learning in school. We also have homework folders for the children which includes a spelling activity for each week and on the back, a short 'special' homework activity.

We also have a lovely morning planned with Partake Theatre Company in October. There will be more details and a payment available for you in September for this.

We look forward to seeing you at the Base One meeting in September.

Best wishes for a happy (and sunny!) summer.

    Mrs Jones & Mrs Morgan

  • Two Important Messages

    Published 10/07/24, by Sarah Mellor

    Hello,

The children might have told you about our collecting beans in a jar for a class treat day. With the children's excellent behaviour this week, we collected the final few beans and filled the jar!  To help the children understand how voting works, we gave all children in the class a cube and a choice of three great days they might like.  The day with the most votes was camp/explorer day. Your child can come to school in non-school uniform next Monday (15th July) - we plan to be outside for most of the day, so please make sure that they are dressed in clothes for outdoor play.

In our school summer production of 'The Greatest Show', Reception are going to be part of the travelling fair.  Please could the children bring in some brightly coloured clothes to join in with this by Monday 15th July. Please ensure clothes (shorts, t-shirt, leotard) come into school in a bag labelled clearly with their name. If they'd like to accessorise with a tutu, headband, wristbands, leg warmers, that would be great but not necessary. We hope this will be easy to gather and will not require you to spend extra money.

As with the Christmas concert, Reception will go on stage at the beginning of the show. For the evening performances, once they have finished, there will be a short interlude to the concert where children will either sit with their parents at the concert or be collected from the Lime Trees (out of school club) door by their parents.  If your child is attending the performances, and you are not watching, it is important that a parent is able to collect their child as promptly as possible so that staff can get back into the concert to supervise other classes.

As always, don't hesitate to talk to us if you have any concerns.

    Thank you for your support.

    Hello all

Welcome back to the last half-term of the reception year. We can't quite believe how fast this year has gone by. We hope that you have all had a relaxing half-term holiday and are enjoying today's beautiful sunny weather.

We have eight weeks left (yes, that's a long half-term, and we're sure both children and staff will be struggling by the end of it) to enjoy.  Attached is a copy of next half-term's curriculum of learning. It's always a very busy half-term (school trip, sports day, summer performance) but we'll also make sure we put the time into preparing the children for their transition into Year One.

Could we kindly ask if you haven't already done so, to please complete the form for your child's trip to Rushcliffe. Once all forms are in, we can get helpers and groups organised.

We look forward to seeing you in the morning for our Crossdale Keys to Learning Day.

    Published 16/04/24, by Sarah Mellor

    Hello all

You are invited to come to school at 3pm on Friday 26th April to celebrate the arrival of Bessie and Belle our new guinea pigs. The children came up with the idea of having a tea party to raise a little bit of money for their upkeep and for the rescue centre that very kindly donated the guinea pigs to us (Avalon Guinea Pig Rescue (avalongpr.co.uk).

Please see the attached flyer for details. We hope that you can make and don't forget to bring some coins!

We look forward to seeing you.
