Hello,
Homework, as usual, can be found in the purple homework book. Thank you for all the books that were handed in today with completed work - you're all amazing!
*Stay in the green zone on doodle (assignments are set from your teachers - and can be set from parents using their linked account information) - Penguins use doodle very well and we are always blown away by the number of stars children receive and the long streaks!
*Read to a grown up (at least 3 times) - we have had so many children complete their reading journeys as well this week - well done!
*Do your spelling homework (Spelling Shed activities are set, too). We have set assignments out of line with the weekly homework - this is so that children continue to practise words from previous weeks to help them learn these better)
*Topic homework if not yet complete
*Special homework activity
You will have seen from the Crossdale News that we will no longer be using SeeSaw as a platform for sharing work but please do continue to use the purple books for homework and check our Penguins blog each week, too! All non urgent information should be sent to the office now and any urgent messages phoned to the office.
Year 1 Team
Today the children have been working hard to practise their independent enquirer skills for their orange key to learning. We have been working by ourselves to produce independent writing. We have been curious about our environment, exploring different ways of making shelters for woodland animals.
In many of our activities we have been sharing our own thoughts about how we plan our work.
These are all skill we can continue to use in and out of the classroom.
We have had a wonderful week so far doing lots of Christmassy things. Christmas lunch yesterday was a huge success, Christmas parties today and a visit from Santa (who just happened to be in the area). We have confirmed that we have lots of good children at Crossdale and Santa said he was packing his sleigh, ready for Saturday night!
We have been understanding that things are built a certain way to serve a specific purpose.
We thought about wooden houses from 1666 and made our own; close together, using construction.

We hope you have all had a super holiday and are feeling refreshed and ready to start a new half-term. It is definitely feeling colder as we approach winter, but we have so many exciting things ahead for this half term with the big 'C' to look forward to at the end!
