Homework WB 22.01.24

Welcome to your weekly homework post.

I still can't get used to writing 2024 however, we are definitely into full swing this half term in Year 1! The Starlings have been working hard during handwriting week and now we have moved on to our story called Awongalema which they told to Mr Cresswell today. In maths, we are starting addition and subtraction tomorrow and children have gained lots of knowledge about animals from our science topic and so many budding artists have come forward during our animal printing unit. We have welcomed tiny chick visitors to school (well they are eggs) but we look forward to watching them pip, then hatch and grow. We have so much to look forward to and we've been so busy! 

*We will now be taking completed Reading Journeys to the office for a special sticker on Thursdays - it will be a chance to celebrate across the school. Stamp charts are the same - I know children are bursting with pride when they complete these so spot those Thursday stickers!

*Your 'special homework' this week is personalised to your child. Parents often ask what they can do to support their child so I have written a little target for each child that we have been working on in school and if you can work with your child on this, it will really help. Some have number or letter formation tasks and others are linked to writing sentences. I hope you find it helpful.

*Spelling activity this week is linked to week 3 of spring 1 words: (er spellings). These are on Spelling Shed already so you can access games from there, there is also an activity in homework books.

*Please listen to your child read at least 3 time a week. New books will come home with you on Monday and Thursday.  Please send in any books to be returned on Mondays and Thursdays as well so that we can re-stock our shelves (thank you!).

*Try to stay in the green zone on doodle by completing your '5 a day' and your assignments. We are 2nd place this week on the doodle board - it seems Year 3 have been busy!
