    Hello,

I hope you've had a wonderful holiday and Easter break, ready for the start of the summer term. It is hard to imagine only having one more term with the children before they are ready to move up!

Please refer to the summer overview blog for details on curriculum coverage, knowledge organisers and spelling overview for this half term.

*Don't forget the phonics screening check meeting on Wednesday evening at 5pm. We look forward to seeing you there to inform you about the check that all children will be completing in June.

*Please return any read books either tomorrow or on Thursday - we expect you have been busy and are ready for your new books. Books will be back to normal for Monday and Thursday next week.

*Spelling this week: Week 1: /ow/ and /ou/ - now, how, brown, down, town, out, about, mouth, sound, you* (you is spelt in this way but is known as a 'tricky' red word.

*Well done to all the children who have completed their spring challenges on doodle. It was tough to achieve it this time so great job! Please try to encourage children to logon daily to do their challenges and assignments.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning.

    Mrs Jones.

    Hello,

I can't believe that tomorrow is the last day of March and with that also, the last week of the spring term. Reflecting on this term, the children have been fantastic with all of their learning and we are looking forward to a great summer term. With the promise of better weather and lots of lovely activities to enjoy in the sunshine, we know the term ahead will ben fantastic with the Puffins. We wish you the best for a happy Easter and spring break, whatever you are doing. Let's hope we have a sunny few weeks.

As we begin to make arrangements for the term ahead, you'll have seen the previous blog with information for our curriculum including spelling, knowledge organisers and homework.

A few reminders for this week:

*Homework packs back in please so we can mark them.

*New homework will be given out at parents' evening appointments (you will have an appointment either Tuesday or Thursday)

*Treat day on Friday this week which will include egg rolling (get ready to boil and decorate those eggs this week!) and non-uniform

*We will send plenty of reading books to help keep you going over the break and please note the email with video links to support your child with their next steps in terms of phonics and word reading.

*Phonics Screening Check meeting is Wednesday 23rd April so the first Wednesday back after the holiday.

This week is our last week of spelling so it is week 6 words: /ue/ and /ew/ - blue, clue, true, rescue, drew, new, few, grew, flew, threw. Please use the homework in your packs and also Spelling Shed to help learn those words really well.

Please return all your reading books that you have at home so that we can tidy and re-stock ahead of the holidays. Please continue to listen to your child read regularly over the holidays; this helps them to keep going with all their new skills and keeps them as confident readers.

    Thanks,

    Mrs Jones.

  • SCIENCE WEEK

    Published 14/03/25, by Jennie Morgan

What a great week we have had for Science Week. We really enjoyed the launch from Fizz Pop Bang in our assembly last Friday which involved lots of exciting experiments.

This week we have enjoyed making and testing paper aeroplanes as part of our whole school flying machine investigation.

We have finished the week with a visit from Jenni, our local hedgehog expert. It was great to find out lots of interesting facts about hedgehogs. If you would like to track local hedgehogs at home she recommended the website Hedgehog Street.

  • BOOK WEEK 2025

    Published 07/03/25, by Jennie Morgan

Wow! What a fabulous week we have had as part of our book week. We have had lots of wonderful activities and have enjoyed them all.

Our week has been very busy...a visit from our favourite storyteller (Mexico Mike), a story from Mr Brierley and time to read with the children in Year 4.

The children all looked fantastic in their costumes yesterday and we really enjoyed our trip to the library. Thank you once again to our helpers, we couldn't have done it without you. I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know how fabulous the children were on our walk. They were wonderful listeners and very sensible crossing the roads.

We are going to snuggle up with our teddies today and read to them.

I have included some pictures below to give you a little summary of our week.

    Have a lovely weekend,

    Mrs Morgan

  • INTERNET SAFETY WEEK

    Published 17/02/25, by Jennie Morgan

Last week we enjoyed finding out about ways we can keep safe online. We started the week by learning about scams online and then reflected on who we could talk to if we were worried about a scam or if anything else concerned us online.

    A scam...

S - Seems too good to be true

C - Contact you did not expect

A - Asked for personal information

M - Money or trade asked from you

This half term we have really enjoyed using the website untitled.png - PaintZ during our computing lessons to explore digital art. After the holiday we will start working on programming.
